American Citizens Services:
The American Citizens Services unit will have expanded hours during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games to assist Americans in emergency cases. From Feb. 10 to Feb. 28, the American Citizens Services unit will be open seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. for emergency cases only. These emergency cases will be handled on a “walk-in” basis. Please note that all non-emergency services (such as notaries, reports of birth abroad, routine passport renewals) will be suspended for the duration of the Winter Olympics.
In the case of a life or death emergency involving a United States citizen, call 604 685 4311. A Duty Officer is available 24 hours a day.
Visas:
All visa services require appointments.
I-130 Petition Filing:
An I-130 immigrant visa petition can be filed at the U.S. Consulate General in Vancouver on a walk-in basis on any Friday between 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Information on document requirements can be found at http://www.consular.canada.usembassy.gov/immigration_usa_relative.asp.
Legal Residence Abandonment, Departure Verification:
Surrendering a legal permanent resident card ("green card"), and verifying departure from the U.S., and can be done on a walk-in basis on any Monday and/or Tuesday between, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm.
Notice: The following items are prohibited in the Consulate:
Electronic or recording equipment of any kind, to include laptops, cell phones, tape/CD/MP3 players, pagers, keyless remotes, etc.
Food and beverages
Backpacks, bags, luggage, etc.
Weapons or tools of any kind
Oversize strollers
Please be aware that we have no facilities for storing personal items.
