At a ceremony at Eric Nielsen International Airport in Whitehorse, Public Affairs Officer Jeanne Briganti joined Yukon Deputy Premier Elaine Taylor and Whitehorse Mayor Bev Buckway to dedicate a plaque acknowledging Yukon’s assistance and experience during and in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. The ceremony featured a color guard of first responders from numerous agencies, including fire, police, and emergency medical services.
Consul General Anne Callaghan presented the plaque which thanks the people of Whitehorse for their support following the landing of two U.S.-bound international flights at the airport at a meeting earlier this year with Yukon Premier Darrell Pasloski.
While in Whitehorse, Briganti also visited the Family Literacy Centre, where she donated a series of books on ecology, the environment, and animals. Young Yukoners visit the Centre, housed in the Canada Games center, for a variety of programs and activities centered around reading, promoting literacy, and active play.
